Introduction
Emmigrating from Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland we know that our ancestors arrived first in Maryland and Virginia. And, after the American Revolution their trail led to Kentucky. At that time the western wilderness of Virginia was known as “the barrens” for less than desirable farm land.
By the late 1790’s these pioneers had begun to leave Kentucky for the richer lands of Upper Louisianna being offered to settlers by the Spanish. This website is my tribute to those courageous pioneers destined to become the founding families of Perry County, Missouri - originally known as “the Barrens”.
So many ancestors - so little time!
